RNLI Charity Day 2021

On Sunday 19th September, the last day of our 68 Southend Open Top Bus service, we will be donating all fares to the RNLI. Normal fares will apply but of course you can donate more! Last year’s charity day was a huge success, so let’s raise some money again for our local charity who save lives at sea! 🌊 (usual timetables apply)

About Us

Multi-Award Winning Ensignbus have been running transport services in Essex and London for nearly 50 years. As the pioneer of the ‘Hop on Hop Off’ concept of open top buses in London, running successful open top services is something we have a long and proud tradition of. As a family owned independent business with lots of connections to Southend we are proud to be the operator of the new revitalised Southend Open Top Service. We know that for any such service to succeed it needs to operate reliably, with friendly staff, modern vehicles and good value fares, something we are confident we provide.

Meet the team

Meet the regular drivers and pavement staff of 2021!

Hello, I'm Ross. I have been driving buses for 30 years. I started driving Open Top sightseeing buses for London Pride in 1992 and I'm so excited to be driving Open Top buses, now in my hometown.

Ross Newman

ROARRR! I'm Mickey! I started working with sightseeing buses in London for Cityrama back in the 80s. I was then persuaded to join Ensign where I helped build their sightseeing company London Pride until it was sold and I have been at Ensign ever since.

My name is Alan (aka Elvis). I started at London Pride sightseeing from 1995-2000 and continued sightseeing for almost another 20 years. It was a "simple twist of fate" that Ensign welcomed me back with open arms after 25 years. Now I'm back doing what I love with such a great team, and I hope that reflects on our performance.

Hi, my name is Lola! I am a member of the pavement staff and this is my second season. I've also had the opportunity to design the 68 branding and website. I have grown up around buses and I'm so excited to become more involved in the family business!

Lola Newman

Hi there! My name is Kara and I am a member of the pavement staff. As the youngest member of the team, I feel very privileged to be involved. I have learnt a lot from the rest of the team and I'm excited to learn even more this coming season.

Kara Newman

Hi, I'm Lorraine and I started working with Ensign's London Pride sightseeing buses in London in 1996. Buses have been part of my life ever since. After a long break from Open Top Buses, it's great to be back! I really enjoy welcoming passengers on board.
